
Diana Galakhova is a pianist who performs on both modern grand pianos and historical fortepianos. Her deep passion for the distinctive sound of historical instruments inspired her to pursue a PhD in Artistic Research, with a special focus on Franz Schubert and the keyboard instruments of his era.
Diana’s musical journey reflects a rich blend of influences from both the Russian piano tradition and the European approach to performance. She has performed widely across Russia, the UK, Austria, Italy, Moldova, Sweden, and Norway, bringing her artistry to diverse audiences and venues.
Currently a PhD Fellow in Artistic Research at the Grieg Academy, University of Bergen, Diana has shared her expertise at international conferences, including Das Romantische Klavier (June 2024, Graz, Austria) and The Opener Project Conference (October 2024, Bratislava, Slovakia).
Born in the North of Russia to a family of engineers, Diana began her musical education at the Murmansk College of Arts with N.K. Bogoslovskaya. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Kunstuniversität Graz, where she studied modern piano with Prof. Libor Novacek and fortepiano with Prof. Katharina Olivia Brand. She earned her Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music in London under the mentorship of the renowned Prof. Gordon Fergus-Thompson, supported by a scholarship. Additionally, she studied the Artist Diploma at the Moscow Schnittke Institute with Prof. Natalia Belkova.
Through her academic and artistic endeavors, Diana continues to explore and celebrate the rich history and expressive potential of the piano in all its forms.
